- Bell peppers. While traditional cheesesteak uses green peppers, use any color for this recipe that you love!
- Olive oil or avocado oil.
- Red onion. These should be thinly sliced.
- Mushrooms. Cut into bite sized pieces
- Salt.
- Black pepper.
- Oregano.
- Onion powder.
- Garlic powder.
- Sirloin steak. Slice this thin. Alternatively, you could use ground beef. It will still taste great, but it will have a different texture

To make these cheesy and delicious Philly cheesesteak peppers, youโll begin by preheating the oven and prepping all of your ingredients. While it preheats, slice the peppers in half and remove the seeds. If necessary, rinse the peppers. Lightly season them with salt and pepper and place in the baking dish cut side up.
Cook for 30 mins uncovered.
Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat your oil over medium high heat. Add the onion and mushrooms with half of the seasonings and sautรฉ until soft, stirring occasionally. This will take about 5-7 mins.
Once soft, remove the onions and mushrooms from the pan.
Add the sliced steak to the pan, applying the remaining seasonings to the meat. If the meat is sticking, add a bit more olive oil. Brown the steak fully and then add the mushrooms and onions back to the pan and toss it all together. Once cooked, set it aside.
After the peppers have finished baking, remove them from the oven.
Place a slice of provolone in the bottom of the pepper half (be careful! Theyโre hot!)
Then top with steak filling and cover with another piece of cheese.
Return to the oven and cook until bubbly. This will only take about 5-10 minutes.

Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers

- 1 9x13 baking dish
- 1 chef's knife
- 1 cutting board
- 1 nonstick skillet
Ingredients
- 4 bell peppers any color
- 2 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
- ยฝ red onion thinly sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ยฝ teaspoon oregano
- ยฝ teaspoon onion powder
- ยฝ teaspoon garlic
- 1 lb sirloin steak sliced thin
- 12-14 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
- Slice the peppers in half, remove the seeds (rinse if necessary). Lightly season with salt and pepper and place in baking dish. Cook uncovered for 30 minutes.
- In a large skillet heat the olive oil over medium high heat. Add the onion and mushrooms with half of the seasonings, sautรฉ until soft (about 5-7 mins), stirring occasionally. Remove the onions and mushrooms from the pan once soft.
- Add the steak to the pan, applying the remaining seasonings to the meat. If the meat is sticking, add more olive oil if necessary. Brown fully.
- Add the mushrooms and onions back to the pan and toss it all together. Set it aside once cooked through.
- After peppers have finished remove them from the oven.
- Place a slice of provolone in the bottom of the cup, top with steak filling, cover with another half piece of cheese.
- Return to the oven and cook until bubbly (5-10 mins).
