Are Egg Rolls gluten free?

Traditional egg rolls are not gluten free because the wrappers are typically made with wheat flour. Wheat is one of the most commonly found sources of gluten and if a food contains wheat, it also contains gluten.

In addition to the wrappers, the sauce used to make egg rolls can also contain gluten. For example, soy sauce which is commonly used in egg rolls contains wheat and therefore is not gluten free.

While traditional egg rolls are not gluten free, there are gluten free alternatives available. Egg roll wrappers can be made with gluten free flour and sauces like tamari soy sauce make great gluten free alternatives.

Are spring rolls gluten free?

Yes, spring rolls can be gluten-free depending on the ingredients used in the filling and the type of wrapper used. Traditional spring roll wrappers are typically made from rice flour, which is naturally gluten-free.

However, it's important to note that some spring roll wrappers may contain wheat flour as an ingredient, so it's necessary to check the packaging or inquire with the manufacturer to ensure they are gluten-free.

Additionally it’s important to check the filling ingredients to ensure that there are no gluten containing ingredients inside the spring roll as well. Sauces in particular are often a hidden source of gluten.

But don't worry, my favorite gluten free egg roll and spring roll brands are below!
