🌿 Nutritional Benefits

Making your own gluten-free ranch dip isn’t just about great taste - it offers plenty of nutritional benefits too.

  • Making homemade ranch dressing gives you complete control over the ingredients.
  • Using ranch dressing as a dip or salad dressing can encourage eating more vegetables. Plus, adding dip doesn’t negate the health benefits of the vegetables!
  • Fats and oils found in dressing can actually help you absorb more nutrients from the vegetables. “Better absorption of the nutrients promotes a range of health benefits, including cancer prevention and eyesight preservation.”

Step 2. Combine mayonnaise and sour cream in a bowl.

The chopped herbs have been added to the glass bowl of mayonnaise and sour cream.

Step 3: Add lemon juice, herbs, and seasonings, and mix together until well combined.

All of the ingredients have been mixed together, and the bowl is filled with ranch dressing.

Step 4: Slowly add milk while stirring until the dip reaches the desired consistency.

Hint: No buttermilk? Make your own! Simply add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice per cup of milk.

📖 Substitutions and Variations

This handy recipe has some helpful substitutions and variations.

  • 🥛Dairy Free - using dairy free sour cream (like Kite Hill) and dairy free milk
  • 🌱Vegan - use using the dairy free modifications and vegan mayo
  • 🌿Dried herbs - Substitute dried herbs for fresh! Use ¼- ½ of the amount if using dried herbs.

🔪 Equipment

Just a few everyday kitchen essentials are all you need to make gluten-free ranch dressing!

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Jar with lid for storage

🍽️ Storage

You can store homemade ranch dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days. It’s best to make small, fresh batches as needed rather than trying to store large quantities.

⭐ Top tip

Adjust milk as needed for consistency. For more of a dip consistency, use much less milk (or even none, depending on how thick you want it). Add more milk to thin it into more of a salad dressing.
