Best Gluten Free Breakfast and Brunch in Chicago
Are you trying to find the best gluten free breakfast in Chicago? Look no further! Here are the top four places in Chicago to start your morning off with the perfect gluten free meal.
Egg Harbor Cafe
At Egg Harbor Cafe you’ll find gluten free cinnamon rolls! Sweet Ali’s Bakery (a dedicated gluten free bakery in the Chicagoland area) has a partnership with Egg Harbor Cafe for their yummy cinnamon rolls and pancakes!
They also have gluten free toast to enjoy with your brunch meal or to have one of their delicious sandwiches.
Check out Egg Harbor Cafe’s gluten free menu here.
Summer House Santa Monica
Entering a Santa Monica summer paradise - I’ve been to Summer House SM for brunch and dinner and loved coming for a girls brunch or romantic dinner! They are extremely careful about cross contamination (with separate fryer) and provide gluten free bread for sandwiches and burgers.
Be sure to grab a gf sweet treat at their café station (brownies and giant cookies the size of your head!).
Check out Summer House Santa Monica in Lincoln Park here.
Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe
There is always a super long line to get into the Wildberry Chicago locations - packed with both tourists and locals! Wildberry has one of the largest combinations for skillets and omelets and even bigger servings.
It’ll also be difficult to choose which toppings you want on the fluffiest gluten free pancakes in Chicago since the options are endless.
See the menu for both of Wildberry’s Chicago locations here.
Take this quick quiz and uncover the secrets to making your gluten-free lifestyle not just manageable, but truly enjoyable with custom recipes and tips!
Wheat End’s Cafe
Looking for a totally dedicated gluten free restaurant in Chicago? There aren’t many restaurants that are entirely gluten free in Chicago but Wheat End’s Cafe delivers on their service. They serve a variety of traditional diner breakfast and lunch options, as well as pastries (the Signature Popover pastry is a must try).

Best Gluten Free Lunch and Dinner Options in Chicago
Whether you're trying to find a vegan option, a take-out pizza, or a classic comfort food dish, you'll find it here. We've found the top spots offering meals that not only cater to gluten-free dietary requirements but also offer flavorful, creative dishes—all without compromising on quality.
Aba
There are so many gluten free options at Aba. Aba even provides gluten free crackers in substitution of bread with hummus. The food is light and flavorful in a beautiful environment that makes you feel like you are an outdoor oasis. I totally recommend their frozen Greek yogurt for a light sweet dessert at the end of the meal.
See Aba’s full gluten free dinner menu here.
Au Cheval
The most beautiful and delicious burger I’ve ever had! In place of buns, you get a potato hash that is so crispy you won’t even miss the bread. The bacon add-on is necessary and just melts in your mouth. The special sauce has gluten in it but you won’t miss not having it on this burger.
Au Cheval also has some great gluten free cocktails to enjoy as well.
See Au Cheval’s Gluten Free Menu here.
Chicago’s Pizza
This is the place to go for Chicago deep dish. They provide complimentary warm bread for the table (yay!). From the reviews, the pizza is crunchy but chewy and super cheesy.
Learn more about Chicago’s Pizza here.
Beatrix
One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago - Attentive about cross contamination and allergies and has a dedicated fryer for those that are gluten free. Don’t leave before checking out their bakery station for gf cookies, brownies, and their famous Emmy’s coffee cake.
Check out the many gluten free options at Beatrix on their menus here.
Girl and the Goat
There’s a reason Girl and the Goat is booked out weeks to months in advance! There is an abundance of gf options and staff will guide you through the menu. I recommend pig face (one of the signature dishes) and the chickpea fritters. The textures and flavors of the dishes are so unique and complex!

Paulie Gee’s
If you’re looking for Detroit style pizza, Paulie Gee’s has both gluten free and dairy free options at their Logan Square location! They specialize in a thick and crispy crust.
While they use the same woodfire oven for gluten and gluten free pizzas, they do bake the gluten free pizzas on a small individual baking rack if you make your needs known.
Check out Paulie Gee’s menu with gluten free options here.
Tuscany Restaurant
Tuscany Restaurant is a little piece of Italy in Chicago! There are gluten free penne or spaghetti options for their pasta dishes. I have tried the Tagliatelle Bolognese and Taglierini and loved the flavor and lightness of the sauces and pasta.

Best Gluten Free Sweet Treats in Chicago
If you’re gluten-free, you know it can be hard to find the perfect sweet treat. However, Chicago has some delicious dessert options!
Do-Rite Donuts
Do-Rite Donuts has the fluffiest donuts I’ve had in Chicago - The donuts are fried in their own fryer and have chocolate glazed, birthday cake, and cinnamon sugar flavors daily. It was my guilty pleasure when I worked in the city!
Check out the gluten free options at Do-Rite Donuts here.
Vaca’s Creamery
Gluten free and vegan ice cream - There are gf waffle cones, I repeat, gf waffle cones! Anything from sundaes to ice cream cones to milkshakes. Vaca’s Creamery has so many topping options and traditional soft serve flavors such as vanilla and chocolate but also seasonal flavors that change every month or so.
Check out the offerings at their locations in Wicker Square and Lincoln Park here.
