How to make gluten free donut holes

I know these look high effort, but honestly, this protein donut recipe could not be easier to make!

First you’ll prepare and bake the base of the healthy baked donut holes.  Then mix and top with the glaze.

Making the baked gluten free donut holes:

To make the baked doughnut holes you’ll begin by preheating the oven.  Then, in your mixing bowl, mix together the protein powder, baking powder, almond flour, xanthan gum, sour cream, melted butter, and water until well combined.

adding liquid ingredients into the batter

Form the mixture into 16 even balls and place them onto your parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake these protein powder donuts for 10 minutes, remove from the oven, and allow to cool to room temperature.

Making the peanut butter glaze:

While the protein powder doughnuts are cooling, you can make the glaze.

Put the remaining butter and peanut butter into a microwave safe bowl.  Alternate heating for 30 seconds and stirring until the butter and peanut butter are completely melted and well combined.

Stir in the heavy whipping cream and sugar substitute for the glaze and continue to stir until smooth.

Once the donut holes are cool, dip them in the glaze and return them to the parchment lined baking sheet to set before serving.

How do you store homemade protein powder donuts?

Storing homemade protein powder doughnuts correctly is essential for keeping them fresh. Fortunately, it’s easy to do!

The best way to store homemade protein powder donuts is to place them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If you need to store the donuts for longer than that, they can be frozen. Be sure to wrap each individual protein donut snack in parchment before putting it in a freezer safe plastic bag.

How much protein is in a protein donut?

These protein doughnut holes have approximately 4g of protein each.  This protein count will depend on the protein powder used–I used chocolate peanut butter Keto Chow!  Click here to try Keto Chow for 10% off.

In conclusion, this Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Donut Holes recipe is a delicious yet healthy alternative to the traditional donut. They are a great way to enjoy a sweet treat while still reaping the benefits of a protein-filled snack. Not to mention, they are gluten free, sugar free, low carb, and keto friendly, and are simple to make.

So why not try this delicious and healthy alternative to the traditional donut and satisfy your sweet tooth?

I sampled one before adding the glaze and it was yummy. But with the glaze... omg so good. I love being able to enjoy these without feeling low afterward. Now that I have the keto protein powder I can make them again and again!
